Lucky 7 Ranch · Hatch, Utah · Since 1872

Open Country.
Deep Roots.

Four generations of the Walter family have raised cattle, grown hay, and welcomed people to this working ranch in the high country near Bryce Canyon.

A Utah ranch story

The ranch has always been more than acreage. It is work handed down, meals shared, gates left open for neighbors, and stories that grow better with time.

Still family.
Still working.

Owned and operated by four generations of the Walter family, Lucky 7 Ranch remains rooted in the same things that built it: stewardship of the land, care for the animals, and the belief that good things should be shared.

Bryce Canyon country

A place with room to breathe.

Lucky 7 sits in southern Utah’s broad, beautiful high country, close to Bryce Canyon National Park. Meadows, working corrals, and long views open toward the red cliffs rising behind the ranch—formations that echo the color and drama of Bryce and make this setting spectacular in its own right.

Come for the country. Remember the people.

Beef from this ranch

Gather at Lucky 7

Some events need more sky.

From church and corporate retreats to ultra marathons and summer festivals, the ranch can welcome groups of roughly 100 to as many as 5,000 people, depending on the event and setup.

Event reservations begin at $5,000. Tent camping and a limited number of RV spaces are available; the ranch does not offer other overnight accommodations.

A little ranch legend

The ranch has a sweet side.

Russel J. Walter—“Big Russ”—was an all-star basketball player, a Navy veteran, a family man, and an ice cream enthusiast with unforgettable taste.

His signature combination: vanilla ice cream, Lay’s potato chips, and a generous spoonful of Pace Picante Hot Sauce. Yes, really.

The Big Russ ice cream stand carries his story forward with frozen treats, family humor, and the kind of tradition that makes a place feel alive.
